The commissioning process is a collaborative one, in which I need to get to know you and what and more importantly where you want the commissioned piece. Colour schemes and sizing are integral to getting what you want and being happy with the end result.
Below are a couple of commission pieces I have done and a brief description of the process that resulted in the end result.
C.V.: A Minimalist Abstract Artwork
The clients were renovating their lounge,
going for a more minimal look by removing
a fireplace and surround. They were
looking for a statement piece that would
create a focal point in the room instead of
the fireplace.
A palette of browns, reds and yellows was
used to create an abstracted view of their
house creating a feeling of warmth, the
strong diagonals draw your eye around
the picture inviting you explore the whole
image.
"Eric & Margaret - Hope": An Artistic Representation of Hope
This picture had a key word - hope -
specifically in relation to the clients. So a
palette with yellows to symbolise life,
light, sunshine and gardens and the
purple and blues for spirituality and faith
and white for the purity of hope.
This hangs in their hallway, so that it
can be seen every day, and glows
beautifully when raked by the afternoon
sunlight.
