I studied art and art history at school in Yorkshire before moving to London in 1982 to work and ‘Come Out’. In 1992 I moved to Wiltshire for work and also became a carer for my partner who had developed MS. He subsequently died in the early 2000s. I continued painting and life drawing throughout my life whilst working as an IT Consultant until I took early retirement.

After I met my husband in 2008 and moved to Newport in South Wales, I worked hard at dealing with my losses and establishing a new life, building a home and I am now able to commit more time to painting and emotional exploration. 

My art style is distinguished by bold colours and a dynamic sense of movement. I enjoy experimenting with a variety of mediums and techniques to produce pieces that are both unique and expressive. Currently, my favorite tool is an expired credit card, which enables me to create expressive and expansive strokes, allowing the paint to mix and blend seamlessly on the canvas. My work draws inspiration from the vibrant colours and rich textures found in nature, as well as the universal emotions and experiences that connect us all. Through my art, I aim to create pieces that are not only visually striking but also deeply emotionally resonant, inviting viewers to engage with the feelings and stories embedded within each composition.

I also find deep satisfaction in life drawing. The process of capturing the human form on paper is restful and meditative, as it requires focused attention on a single task, effectively quieting all other thoughts. This practice not only sharpens my observational skills but also provides a calming, almost therapeutic experience that balances the more dynamic aspects of my abstract work.
